Toilet Paper Roll Race Cars

Toilet Paper Roll Race Cars

These simple race cars are easy to make and you’ll likely have all of the materials on hand already.

Materials:

  • Toilet paper rolls
  • White paper or construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue stick
  • A hole punch
  • 4 lego wheels and 2 long axels each
  • Stickers and felts to decorate

Directions:

To start you will need to cut your paper to length of the toilet paper roll. After gluing the paper to the roll, you’ll need to cut the seat out of the centre. I left a 1/4 inch piece to fold into a seat or windshield. When punching holes for the axel into your toilet paper roll make sure to put them in closer to the bottom of the roll. That way you can use different sizes of tires.

LEGO:

We used 2.5 inch axels and 2 inch monster truck wheels. 1 inch tires will work fine too. If you don’t have LEGO, K’nex would work well.
Another option would be water bottle lids for wheels with straws for axels. You can find examples of these on Pinterest.

Once your race cars are ready you just need to find some race car drivers and then you’re ready to race!
