Playground Reopening’s in Metro Vancouver:

Terra Nova Adventure Playground in Richmond

As of June 1st the majority of playgrounds around Vancouver, Delta, Surrey, Richmond, Maple Ridge the North Shore and the Tri-Cities will be open.

Burnaby made a statement that they plan to reopen their playgrounds a little slower than the rest. I will update this post once they confirm their reopening.

Vancouver, Surrey, Delta and the Tri-Cities announced Thursday their playgrounds will be open again for children as of June 1. New Westminster said a handful of its play areas will also open that day, while Burnaby said it would begin its reopening slowly.

CBC News

New Westminster will only be opening the following playgrounds for now due to whether there are bathrooms onsite:

  • Moody Park, Quayside Park, Queens Park, Hume Park, Sapperton Park, Port Royal, Westminster Pier Park, Grimston Park.

The remaining playgrounds in New Westminster will reopen later.

In Coquitlam, most playgrounds will be open except for Mundy Park. Mundy Park Playground will remain closed all summer due to renovations. The new playground will be ready in September.

Public washrooms will be open in parks and parking lots that were once closed will be open again.

Spray parks will remain closed until further notice.

Here’s a list of my top favourite playgrounds that should be open by June 1st:

  • Terra Nova Adventure Playground, Richmond
  • Garden City Play Environment, Richmond
  • Rochester Park, Coquitlam
  • Lions Park, Port Coquitlam
  • Riley Park, Port Coquitlam
  • Como Lake Park, Coquitlam
  • Rocky Point Park, Port Moody
  • Quayside Park, New Westminster
  • Sapperton Park, New Westminster
  • Moody Park, New Westminster
  • Moodyville Park, North Vancouver
  • John Lawson Park, West Vancouver
  • Douglas Park, Vancouver
  • Penzer Parkour Park, Langley

Before visiting any of these playgrounds please do your own research to see if they are open.

A helpful tip: check the location tag of the park you want to visit on Instagram and see when the last photo was taken there.  If it’s recent, then it means it’s open.

Happy Adventuring!
